The Harbor at Opelika Caregiver Tiffany Johnson Goes the 'Extra Mile' for Residents
OPELIKA, Ala. (May 6, 2019) - The Harbor at Opelika caregiver Tiffany Johnson has been named the Alzheimer's and memory care community’s annual Going the Extra Mile award winner.
“Tiffany is a loving and conscientious caregiver, which shows consistently with every resident she spends time with. She has a generous heart and spirit that is evident in her interactions with residents, their families and other team members. We are excited to have her as our 'Going the Extra Mile' winner,” said Christy Goodwin, senior executive director of The Harbor at Opelika.
Johnson, who has served The Harbor at Opelika memory care community for eight years, displays exemplary dedication to the residents, their families and other team members.
She goes above and beyond for residents and is always willing to help in other areas. She steps in to actively fill in whenever and wherever she is needed with activities, housekeeping duties and many other situations that arise day-to-day.
Johnson was selected for the annual award out of pool of quarterly winners due to her outstanding service.
“When I am with our residents, I feel very comfortable and really blessed to know that I am being a blessing to them. It brings me great joy to be able to assist them and to understand their needs when I know they can’t fully do it themselves. It makes my heart very happy when I see them and they say things like 'you’re my friend,’ ‘I like talking to you,’ ‘you listen to me.' I love knowing, just by their body language and their facial expressions, that they are saying thank you! It really makes me strive daily to be there for them and gives me strength to continue to be a blessing for them,” said Johnson.
The Going the Extra Mile program encourages residents, family members and employees to nominate team members who have performed exceptionally well in a specific scenario. The program committee reviews nominations each quarter, selecting a winner who receives a special parking space, a personalized plaque in the lobby and a $100 cash prize. The annual winner receives a $500 prize.
