Christy Goodwin Named Senior Director of The Harbor at Opelika in Opelika, Ala., a Premier Alzheimer’s and Memory Care Facility

OPELIKA, Ala. (August 14, 2018) – Christy Goodwin has been promoted to senior executive director of The Harbor at Opelika, a premier Alzheimer’s and memory care facility in Opelika, AL, serving the Opelika Auburn region.

The newly reopened Harbor at Opelika is part of a growing family of thirteen other assisted, independent, and memory care facilities, including The Harbor at Hickory Hill in Prattville, Ala. The Harbor at Hickory Hill, also owned and operated by Cleveland, Tenn.-based Legacy Senior Living, is a sister facility of The Harbor at Opelika and serves the Montgomery region.

Goodwin has served the Hickory Hill senior community for 11 years, starting as activities director and later promoted to executive director in 2014. After proving to be an invaluable leader to Hickory Hill, Goodwin was promoted to senior director of Opelika, where she supports current executive director, Ryan McFerrin. Her time in these roles has given her much experience in devoted leadership. Goodwin assumed her new responsibilities on April 1.

She is recognized by the Alabama Board of Examiners of Assisted Living Administrators as a Category II Licensed Administrator for Assisted Living and Specialty Care Living facilities. A certified Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia Care Trainer, Goodwin founded the One Heart Many Hands Dementia Training for Caregivers in 2015 and conducts professional trainings at colleges, assisted living facilities, and specialty care assisted living facilities around the region.

“I am an advocate for seniors,” Goodwin said. “I do whatever I possibly can to help find the right fit for each resident and their families. I see my work on earth to be in service of God, and He has made it clear to assist and be in service to our residents.”

Goodwin, a resident of Slapout, AL, recently added a daughter-in-law to her family of five children.
